Avena, or Oats, have a beautiful light-green color and compact form that makes it an excellent choice for decorating a tabletop or a small space. Over time, the light green color will fade to blonde, and the husks will open. In addition to being displayed alone, Avena is also a great choice for harvest centerpieces and other more complex arrangements.
The first picture shows a Select Grade bundle of Avena, which is tied with raffia and trimmed for free-standing display. The second picture is of three bundles of Project Grade Avena (Oats), which are simply bundled with a rubber band. The third picture shows a pair of Harvest Centerpieces, created using Avena (Oats), Rice, and Golden Wheat. You can read about the construction of the centerpieces here. The last picture shows one of the harvest centerpieces over a year after it was created. Note that the Golden Wheat and the Rice looks about the same, but the Avena (Oats) has transformed into a blonde and the husks have opened.
